How to edit and updates lists on Reading Lists Online, and how to request digitised extracts.

Publishing your list

When you have finished adding the content of your resource list, you need to publish it so that it is visible to your students.  Remember to publish the reading list every time you edit it, or add a new reference or a new note, so your students can view the updated content.

When you have finished editing the list, click on the Publish button on the right of your screen.

Alternatively, open the reading list, click on edit to view the drop down menu, then select Publish.

Requesting a Review's important that your Subject Librarian review your list, especially if you have added new references, or if you have changed the importance of some books on the reading list from recommended reading to essential reading. 

When you request a review of the list, the Subject librarian will check the reading list and purchase new book titles for the library collection, and additional copies of textbook as necessary. 

To request a review, open your reading list, go to the review button and select Request review from the drop down menu.

You can also request a review when you are in the edit mode of your list.  You will see the Request review button on the right hand side of the screen.

You could also email your subject librarian to alert them that your list needs reviewing.

Link to the Hierarchy

It is essential that your reading list is linked to the hierarchy so that it can be linked to your Moodle module.

You must publish your list before it can be linked to the hierarchy. Once you have published it, click on the Edit dropdown menu and select Link to Hierarchy from the list. Type the module code into the box and when the module name appears, click on this to link it.

When the list (for the current academic year) has been published, students will be able to access it from the Reading List link that appears in the module dashboard on Moodle.

It is also possible to provide links to the relevant readings within each section of the module on Moodle, so students can see and access the recommended readings at the right time.
