Reading Lists Online

How to edit and updates lists on Reading Lists Online, and how to request digitised extracts.

Step 1.1 - Chapter title and author

Having clicked 'Request digitisation' in the reading list, this window appears:

First box: enter the title of the chapter you want digitised.

Second box: enter the author of that chapter, if different to the book author.

  • Specify the name of the chapter, rather than simply entering the chapter number.
  • Enter the author’s name in the format Surname, First name/initial.
  • If the section or chapter does not have a specified author, then leave this box blank.

The window should now look like this:

Step 1.2 - Section details

Next, click on the ‘Section of a book' tab.

Put in the first page and last page of the section or chapter you want digitised.

Enter the chapter author, if different from the author/editor of the book.

Then click ‘Next step’.

Step 1.3 - Bibliographic references

Enter the first and last page numbers of the bibliographic references (these can be digitised whether after the chapter or at the end of book). These do not count towards the total proportion of the book that can be scanned.

Then click ‘Next step’.

Step 1.4 - Course details

The course details should automatically appear.

If not, fill them in, making sure you place the start date as 1st September of the current academic year and the end date as 31st August of the current academic year.

Step 1.5 - About you

Your details will appear. Please make sure that these are correct.

Click 'Submit request'.

You will receive an email informing you of the outcome of the request (see the 'Request outcomes' section of this guide).
