Finding print scores in the library

To find scores in CityLibrary Search enter your search terms and narrow by format to 'Score'. You will find our print score collection at the back right hand side of Level 5 (Northampton Square Library). Recent additions to our collection are shelved within the book sequence.

Nkoda - digital scores app

Nkoda is a digital scores app that allows you to access the complete scores catalogues from over 125 major global music publishers. You can create playlists, select your chosen instrument(s), and mark up scores with symbols, text, or freehand drawing. You can find out more on the Nkoda website.

Downloading the app

You can browse Nkoda from the web app. However, to access scores, you will need to download a dedicated app, which is free of charge. The app is available for desktop and mobile devices from the download links below:

Logging in

  1. Select Login and then 'Log in with your Institution'.
  2. Enter 'City, University of London' in the Find your institution search box and select City, University of London.
  3. Log in with your City email address and password. This step may be completed automatically by your device, or you may have to enter you details manually.
  4. You’ll then be asked to create your Nkoda account - you must use your University email address for this.
  5. Select 'Yes' when asked if you would like to 'Continue as a member of City, University of London.'
  6. You will now be logged in to Nkoda.

When you get a message saying your session has expired, you need to log in again.

Using Nkoda

As stated in Nkoda's End User Licence Agreement, you can use scores for practice and rehearsal purposes. For public performances, you will need to obtain performance rights in the usual way. The app provides a link to a portal through which rights can be requested.
