Using Kanopy

You can view and share videos on desktop browsers with your City login. To use the Kanopy app and to create playlists you need to create a Kanopy account:

  1. Log into Kanopy using your City email address and password
  2. Access the account menu by selecting the Main Menu button (person icon) and then select Create an account

  3. Enter the details requested (your Kanopy password should be different to your City password) and select the Sign Up button
  4. Check your City email and verify your email address.

You can share videos via link or by embedding them in a Moodle module.

Embedding videos in Moodle

  1. On the details page for the video, select the Share tab
  2. Select Copy Link button for the Embed This Video option
  3. Use this link to embed the video in Moodle.

  1. Select My Lists on the Kanopy homepage
  2. Select the Custom Playlists tab
  3. Select Create New Playlist
  4. Enter a name for your playlist in the box and select the Create New Playlist button
  5. Search for the video you want to add to your playlist
  6. On the details page for the video, select the Playlists tab
  7. Select the add to playlist button (the plus sign next to your playlist) to add the video.

Sharing Playlists

  1. Select My Lists on the Kanopy homepage
  2. Select the Custom Playlists tab
  3. Select your playlist
  4. Select the Share tab
  5. Select Copy Link to get a link to either share your playlist directly or to embed your playlist in Moodle.
  1. On the details page for the playlist, select the menu link (three dots) under the video thumbnail
  2. Select Edit
  3. Set a Start time and End time for the clip you want.
