City Research Online

What is City Research Online?

City Research Online (CRO) enables our academic staff and researchers to record bibliographic details of their research and make the research outputs openly available. It consists of City's open access Institutional Repository and the research publications database.

  • The Publications Database: Records details of the research produced by our academics and researchers. This information is publicly available through Staff Profiles.
  • The Institutional Repository: Makes the full text of the research produced by our academics and researchers freely available to anyone with internet connection. Anyone can access, read, use and cite the research found in the Institutional Repository. High ranking by search engines enables the widest possible audience for the content of the repository.

To get started, use our step-by-step guides to find out how to get your papers into City Research Online.

Make sure your research is eligible for the next REF

It is now a HEFCE requirement that only journal articles and conference proceedings available through institutional repositories will be eligible for the next REF.

Please see City Research Online and REF guide for detailed information about the requirements for the next REF.
