RefWorks

RefWorks is an online reference management tool which can be used by City students, staff and alumni. It allows you to keep track of all your research, helps create bibliographies and lets you share references with others.

Use RefWorks to:

Manage and store your references from projects and dissertations in folders.
Export references from Library Search, many databases and Google Scholar, etc into RefWorks.
Create and format bibliographies in different styles and generate in-text citations.
Save PDFs and documents directly from your computer.
Collaborate and share references with others.

Other bibliographic management tools

There are several other tools to help you manage and use your references.

Mendeley: Academic reference management software for researchers
Enables you to save and share references via the Web. It is a free reference manager and social networking tool enabling you to save and share references and to read your papers anywhere via the web. Once you have downloaded Menderley you will need to install the plugin for Word in order to add citations into your papers. The desktop version easily indexes any article pdfs you have saved in your files. You can then synchronize with the web version for easy access.
Endnote Basic
Endnote is a popular tool for managing bibliographies and inserting citations and references into your work. Endnote Basic is a free, web-based tool. Staff members who want to use Endnote Desktop should contact the IT Service Desk.
Zotero
Free, browser-based tool for managing and using references and citations.
