Assistive Technology Spaces

Assistive Technology Centre Northampton Square

The Assistive Technology Centre (ATC) at Northampton Square Library has a range of assistive software packages, equipment and adaptive furniture. There are three individual bookable rooms and three drop-in spaces with pcs.

Northampton Square ATC directions

The ATC is in Northampton Square Library Level 2. Turn right from the Library entrance or the accessible lift entrance and follow signage to the ATC. The door to the ATC and all internal doors to individual rooms are automatic and will open when you tap your City ID card on the reader. Use a drop-in space

You can use a pc or study space in the ATC drop-in area. There are three pc spaces available and two study desks. You do not need to book ahead to use these spaces.

Book an individual room at Northampton Square

You can book a room for up to four hours per day. There are three individual rooms available.

Assistive Technology Centre entrance

Tap your City ID card on the card reader by the door. The door will automatically open. All doors within the ATC are automatically opening.

Each study space has a height-adjustable desk, dimmable lights and an ergonomic chair. You can also find natural light lamps, document holders and scanners.

Assistive Technology Centre bookable individual room

There are 3 individual rooms. Inside an individual room you can find a height-adjustable desk, ergonomic chair, dimmable lights and emergency pull cord. You can control or dim the lights.

The Assistive Technology Room Law Library

The Assistive Technology Room (ATR) at the Law Library makes available a range of assistive software packages, equipment and adaptive furniture. There is one bookable room with capacity for one person.

Law ATR directions

The ATR is in the Law Library Level 1.

  • If you are taking the stairs to the Library turn left from the Library lobby area and the ATR is straight ahead. 
  • By lift, the lift will arrive inside the Library. Exit the Library and you will find the ATR on your right-hand side.
  • The automatically opening door to the Assistive Technology Room will open when you tap your City ID card on the reader. 

Booking the Law ATR

You can book up to four hours per day.

Terms and conditions

  • If you are more than 15 minutes late your booking may be cancelled and allocated to another user.
  • Do not leave belongings unattended.
  • Leave the space neat and tidy for the next users.
  • The AT spaces at Law and Northampton square are available only to students with City ID cards set with access permission. Access must be agreed in your Student Support Plan by the Student Health and Wellbeing department
  • External visitors without City cards are not permitted access, as per the Library Charter.

Assistive Technology Computers at the Business School

There are two Assistive Technology Computers at the Business Library. The computers are in the open area at the entrance of Room 1002.

You do not need to book to use these computers.
