ProQuest RefWorks Guide

What is ProQuest Refworks?

ProQuest RefWorks is an online reference management, writing and collaboration tool designed to help researchers at all levels gather, organise, store and share all types of information and to generate citations and bibliographies. Please remember to check any output generated by RefWorks for accuracy.

  • If you are a Legacy RefWorks user, you may wish to keep using the product especially if you are using the Write N Cite Tool until your project or dissertation is finished.

Use Refworks to:

  • Manage and store your references from projects and dissertations in folders.
  • Export references from CityLibrary Search and many databases and Google Scholar etc into RefWorks.
  • Create and format bibliographies in different styles and generate in text citations.
  • Save PDFs and documents directly from your computer.
  • Collaborate and share references with others.

 

Creating a ProQuest  RefWorks account

You need to create a ProQuest Refworks account before using it. Go to http://refworks.proquest.com

Click on Create Account, type in your City email address and click Check. Enter a password and click Sign Up. You will be sent an activation email to your City email account. You must click the activation link to activate your account. You will then be asked to provide some further information to continue setting up your account.

 

New ProQuest RefWorks and Update

  • This guide refers to New ProQuest RefWorks which is replacing the Legacy RefWorks product. 
  • You can create a  New ProQuest RefWorks account once created, you can access your account from this page using the username and password boxes.
  • If you are a Legacy RefWorks user, you may wish to keep using the product for the time being especially if you are using the Write N Cite Tool for your project or dissertation.  
  • Legacy Refworks is expected to be usable during 2018.

Transferring References into ProQuest RefWorks

See guidance from Proquest on importing your exisiting references from RefWorks (Legacy) or other reference management software products such as Mendeley into new ProQuest RefWorks.
