Reading Lists Online

How to edit and updates lists on Reading Lists Online, and how to request digitised extracts.

Step 1.1 - Chapter or section title and author

Having clicked 'Request digitisation' in the reading list (which needs to be in 'Edit' mode), this window appears:

Enter the chapter/section name, page range(s), and author(s) of the chapter (if not already present). If not a full chapter then untick the box to the right of 'Resource type'.

You can also enter the page range of the bibliographic references for that chapter, if you would like them scanned. Sometimes these will come at the end of the chapter, and sometimes at the end of the book either separated into chapters or not. In all cases we can scan them if desired. If not separated into chapters we will scan the whole references section.

  • Specify the name of the chapter, rather than simply entering the chapter number.
  • If the section or chapter does not have a specified author, then the author of the book should be in the author box.

The box should now look something like this:

Step 1.2 - Course details

If the start and end dates are not present, fill them in: start date as 1st September of the current academic year and end date as 31st August of the current academic year.

Fill in the date the reading is needed by in the next box.

Fill in the course details, if not already present. Enter an approximation of student numbers if you don't know for certain.

Step 1.3 - About you

Your details will appear. Please make sure that these are correct.

Click 'Submit request'.

You will receive an email informing you of the outcome of the request (see the 'Request outcomes' section of this guide).
